If you are one of the four people who completed the Mason Mount RTTF SBC then well done and most certainly congrats! The rest of us will have to settle with the TOTS version for now and what a deserved nomination this was. Mount has been a key to everything that Chelsea has done well this year and continues to prove he is one for the future. This weekend I hoped that this card could harness some of this year's brilliance in pixelated form, entering one of the sweatiest Weekend Leagues of the year. While I see many using the ENGINE chemistry style (and rightfully so) I felt that the HUNTER chemistry style would better suit my Weekend League purposes and went in that direction. They say that hindsight is 20/20 and in this case, I wouldn’t change a single thing. Mount performed wonderfully throughout the weekend and was a huge part of everything I did well. However, like all journeys, this one had some bumpy patches and it was not all sunshine and rainbows during the review. I went with the 4-2-2-2 formation (tactics on Youtube: MaeNine) again this weekend and felt that Mount might be the perfect “attacking” or at least more adventurous CDM in my formation. This position is usually held by Renato Sanches and maybe that comparison alone was the key to my disappointment. Mount simply could not operate in that area of the pitch… the game felt too quick and too physical for Mount to succeed.. and after two matches he moved out to the RAM, where he excelled for the remainder of the weekend. Mount was the wizard on the wing all weekend in the following squad:
This might be the most well-rounded card I have used in FUT this year. Certainly, I have used cards who have better qualities and in some cases are so amazing in one area that they can make up for deficiencies in others. However, with Mount, it was staggering how evenly distributed his attributes felt. Nothing Mount did all weekend got me out of my seat.. nothing stood out as amazing or better than other cards… and yet nothing stood out as a glaring weakness either. Everything Mount did, he did well, and that was the end of it.
All for One and One for All
Given how unique of a card Mount was during this review. I felt it warranted a unique review format. It almost feels like the quote above is a personal motto for this card. Everything I experienced with Mount during this review felt like it fit together perfectly to equal one of the best returns I have experienced with a wide CAM in the 4-2-2-2. 14 goals and 6 assists in essentially 18 matches from the wide areas is insane. It starts with the 99 ACCELERATION & 96 SPRINT SPEED that feel just quick enough to separate from opponents in tight spaces… and certainly fast enough to operate on the wings. The 178cm | 5’10 frame mixed with the 93 AGILITY & 88 BALANCE all facilitates the “feel” of this card when on the ball. Perhaps the only issue in this department being the 3 STAR SKILLS, which will turn many away. However, it was a non-issue for me given the way Mount maneuvers on the ball, which was always followed by the perfect delivery of an end product.
Even the price works here. 280k for this card feels like a steal. When you witness the quality in his 95 SHORT PASSING.. or accuracy of the 87 LONG PASSING it puts your mind at ease that wingplay will not be a concern. But then, the 99 FINISHING , 98 SHOT POWER & 95 LONG SHOTS with a 4 STAR WEAK FOOT made me realize that there was serious potential for goal contributions from these areas as well. The attacking threat Mount brought added a dimension to my forward movement that many opponents could not handle and was key to his impressive goal per game contribution rate.
But, it isn’t just the bright lights and goal celebrations with Mount. He was willing to get in the trenches and battle defensive, which was maybe the most surprising feature in the card at the end of the day. The MEDIUM portion of the MED/HIGH WORK RATES was just enough to get Mount moving back into quality defensive areas… while the 99 STAMINA proved vital to ensure 90 minutes plus was not an issue. While the defensive statistics do not scream quality… it was never an issue that caused a second thought for me throughout the weekend. The 72 STRENGTH & 92 AGGRESSION just about work flawlessly when retrieving the ball from overlapping fullbacks or wingers cutting back into the middle of the pitch.
Closing Words
This weekend's EPL TOTS reviews went about as opposite as I could have expected. I figured Salah would be a weapon, a force to be reckoned with & a game changing nightmare for opponents. But if you read my review or follow on Twitter: MaeNine_ you will know that this was certainly not my experience. If anything, Mount embodied more of these traits in his performances match in and match out despite his wider starting position. The key to all of this comes from the balance in this card’s abilities… which lead to Mount never finding himself at the wrong end of my wrath when my squad was struggling. While at the same time his quiet quality surprised me more and more when at the end of each match his rating was consistently in the top 3 overall. The goals were key. The assists were clean. And the work to get back and support the squad was noted. In one of the biggest examples of Weekend League Warriors I have witnessed in some time… Mount went to battle each and every match, and you can’t ask for much more than that. Hoping you are safe and well. Cheers for reading.
What. A. Card. was so excited to pick up a thoroughly deserved tots mount as soon as he came out and he did not disappoint. 400k is a steal.
I have used him in 5 rivals games in D1 and 10 champs games so far and and have used him at CAM in a 4231 with tots bailey, showdown neres and PIM drogba playing off him.
I put a finisher chem style on him.
Pace:
his acceleration is unbelievable, I think possibly due to his lean body type he feels faster than my 'express' pace wingers
he beats the last line of the defence every time he's through on goal
Shooting:
despite the whole card being unreal, his shooting is his best attribute I have found so far.
he has no finesse trait but that doesn't matter because he scores from absolutely everywhere from outside the box and the whip on his finesse shots suggests the hidden trait exists in abundance
shot power is like a fucking freight train wow
he is so composed in front of goal and finishes everything
his left foot also feels very good, some angles on his left that are lower on power you wonder if they might have gone in on his right but its still very good
Passing:
can make any length of pass to inch perfect perfection of both feet and from any angle
93 curve gives him the mental whip on his long range shots
his set pieces are perfect, puts it on a six pence at corners for didier
feels like he has power free kick trairt but i imagine another hidden trait in play. bangs them in, in both corners and often beats the man on the line at free kicks
Driblbing:
the 3* skills is a bit of a let down and a violation from ea and in some specific situations it would be easier to beat the last line with a spin or a croquetta
however, his left stick dribbling makes up for this if you know how to use it properly
he twists and turns and beats any defender in front of him with ease
has mad sticky and walks straight through tackles on the other side
his dribbling is close to TOTY messi levels
defending:
his lowest stat and his worst attribute (still decent just not anything special)
however, slap a shadow or sentinal on him and he would be an incredible box to box
physical:
99 stam is great as it means he can dribble and turn for a full 120 mins if needed
can sometimes get muscled off the ball as he isn't that strong
aggression is immense and is a huge part of his sticky factor and ball winning ability from CAM
I was lucky enough to pack Mount out of the Rare Gold Season Objectives pack. Being a Chelsea fan, I was ecstatic to get my hands on this card without having to pay the coins. While 330k is a lot of coins, I can assure you that you will not be disappointed unless you're a skill move merchant. I played him for 23 games of WL at striker with the hunter chemistry style (Engine also works if you want the boosted dribbling). His maxed out acceleration with the hunter is unmatched. He goes from 0-60 almost instantly and with the 99 finishing he hardly ever missed in the box. Not only is he a beast inside the box, but his long shots are just as amazing. His dribbling is on par with Messi and you don't need the 4* skill moves in order to create space for a shot.
Every Dribbling stat
Finishing
Long Shots
Acceleration
Sprint Speed
Strength - seems low but feels much stronger in game
He makes insane runs
Passing
I cannot speak on his defending abilities as I primarily played him at Striker.
The only thing I could knock him on would be the 3* skills. I don't use many skills, so it wasn't an issue for me because his dribbling was just that good.
So I packed this guy out of my 82 x25 pack and where do i even start, i only needed around 5 games to make this review, and must say this card is absolutely insane. I used a hunter on him to max out his pace and shooting. i played him at cam in a 4-1-2-1-2 narrow with Clakre Harris and inform Marcus Rashford. I also tried this card up front and his definitely more suited form but it depends on your play style.
Pace: With the hunter, blistering speeds and his body type accommodates that, he was outpacing defences like Joe Gomez and Varane. not much else to say here, 9.5/10
Shooting: I tried shooting a lot with Mount as his shooting stats are cracked for cam, most of the natural shots went in, but his finesse shots aren't great as he docent have the trait which I know most people like on a cam. But i would still rate his shooting 9/10.
Passing: Great passing, nothing lacking there, no chemos style need in my eyes. Long passing is very solid, he makes a pace 9 times to of 10. 9/10
Dribbling: I know your main worry for this card is his 3 star skill moves, and don't worry its a deal breaker for me as well, but even so his agility is fantastic as well as his balance and composure which i fell like makes up for his 3 star skill moves. 8.5/10
Defending: Now i didn't try this card as a second dm but i fell like he could do the job regardless as he has ok standing tackle and interceptions, but it wouldn't be my go to position for this tank.
This man is unreal, slap an engine on him and he is rapid, and insanely agile. I got him in my red picks and instantly slotted him in the team as a cam, even tho he is 3 star skills, I found it didn't effect me because it LB dribbling is insane. He is so responsive on the ball and his passing and shooting is top tier, he feels like 99 shot power and finishing when he shoots and he will make an inch perfect pass no matter the distance. I absolutely love this card, feels almost endgame for me.
I used him in Weekend League and Rivals.. obviously with how far were are into TOTS now he will not feel as special anymore than he might at the start when not everyone had at least 5 TOTS in their XI.
I played him at CAM and CM, with Chem-Style Hunter
Pace: Feels GOOD, but not rapid; he´s quick enough but you cant outrun TOTS-defenders -> For a midfielder hes fast enough, as a striker i would want more at this point of the game, even with hunter on him
Shooting: AMAZING; Incredible Finesse-Shots from outside the box, great finishing from up close -> couldnt want anything more, feels better then most strikers at finishing
Passing: OKAY; i was a bit surprised about that but his passing is not as smooth as i would´ve expected.. his normal passing is great, but under pressure he just doesnt get the pass of sometimes.. when im getting under pressure in my own half and i just pass the ball away before the opponent gets to me he sometimes feels too slow to get the pass off and loses the ball.. i played TOTS Gündogan and Oliveira and in the same situations neither of them has a problem like that.. i dont know why but with Mount this keeps happening to me. -> normal passing great, but pass a little bit earlier than you would normally with him when youre under pressure
Dribbling: GREAT; Im not too much of a skiller, so the 3* Skills dont matter to me; his Left Stick dribbling is great; he feels a bit taller and there are some players that feel even better and more agile (like TOTS Corona), but thats just bcs of his body type; still great -> Nothing to complain about
Defending: OK; i did not try him out with a Shadow so i dont really know how good he can be, but i would rather play him at CAM than at CM or CDM; i guess he okay bcs he has the pace to come back as well as the stamina, but there are better options defensively; he doesnt really have the physicality to push someone off the ball. -> Doesnt really matter that much if you play him at CAM
Physical: Stamina: GREAT; Strenght: HMMM; he gets pushed off the ball quite easy, but doesnt have that stupid animation smaller players have where a defender that is close can just bully you off the ball.. if you dribble well it will not be a problem.
Overall hes good for the price he has now, he is a reliable finisher and great CAM..
okayyy so i got him in the 84+plus pack and oh boyyyyy this card is insane he almost never misses a one v one and scores goals from impossible angles i have played 3 games with him and he scored 10 and 6 assists theres not a finesse shot trait but his shot power and curve is insane maybe the trait is just hidden his passes are so smooth and i dont know if he is worth 300k coz i got him in a pack but he is insanely good u shd definitely buy him if u have the resources to afford him and tbh his dribbling feels so smooth tho he has 3 star skills and his weak foot is 4 that impressive.
